The Research Council is a standing committee of the Faculty Senate intended to promote and support the research mission of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Our primary goal is to facilitate communication and transparency between stakeholders, faculty involved in research, and those who guide, fund, and administer it. We act as an advisory body to the Vice Chancellor for Research and coordinate certain activities with the Office of Research, Innovation, and Economic Development—in particular, faculty involvement in several ORIED committees and the determination of recipients of various research awards.
Research and creative achievement are vital components of UT’s mission and of the professional lives of our faculty members. From laboratory discoveries to art installations, from publications to performances, UT faculty members are deeply involved in a rich variety of research endeavors.
The Research Council invites the input and participation of all those interested in advancing the research mission of the University. We look forward to hearing your ideas and suggestions.
